ViewSonic has announced a trio of Dual-SIM Android smartphones at this year’s Mobile World Congress – the 4e, 4s and 5e. The phones aim to combine business and personal use into one phone, thanks to the Dual-SIM functionality.
With all three phones you’ll be able to slot in both your personal SIM card and a business or secondary SIM, and personalise profiles for each, including separate contact lists and different ringtones for each, for example.
ViewPhone 4s
Sharing its model name with Apple’s latest and greatest (which we’re sure will net ViewSonic a lawsuit), the 4s features a 3.5-inch IPS touchscreen which will provide vivid colours and excellent viewing angles. Quality will be crisp too, thanks to a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels and a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch.
It runs on Android 4.0 for a smooth performance and great looks, and hosts a 5-Megapixel rear camera with autofocus, as well as an average VGA front-facing lens for video calling and such. Unfortunately ViewSonic hasn’t confirmed details on the processor or memory, but we do know that this model will sell for a reasonable £325 in the UK. Expect availability sometime before June in European regions.
ViewPhone 5e
The 5e is the top model in ViewSonic’s new range, again running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The 5 in the name relates to the device’s screen size, which is exactly 5-inches, with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Unfortunately ViewSonic has again left processor and memory details out of the release information for some reason.
However, it’s a stylish-looking phone with a glossy black front and white casing, and it’ll cost around £390, going on sale in the UK and Europe between July and September of this year, so we’re told.
ViewPhone 4e
Last but not least we have the ViewPhone 4e, which is the entry level model in the range. It’s an interesting-looking device that mixes black and vibrant yellow plastics together to give it a bumblebee look. Unlike the 4s and 5e, this model runs Android Gingerbread (2.3) instead of the latest OS.
It features a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480 (HVGA), a 650MHz processor and a 3-Megapixel rear camera. It’s a no-frills phone that still offers dual-SIM functionality for a reasonable asking price of £260. The 4e will launch before June, like the 4s.
Is carrying around a work phone and a personal mobile a pain in the SIM? Perhaps one of ViewSonic’s latest is just the thing for you.
