NetFlix is off to a good start having kicked off little over a month ago in the UK, as a competitor to the long-established and Brit-based LoveFilm. Now to cater to the school holiday market NetFlix has opened up a separate section of its subscription service for Playstation 3 owners, dedicated to good clean fun for the kiddies and hiding the smut and violence which can be easily obtained through Netflix main.
Appropriately named Netflix – “Just for Kids” the service cuts out all access to inappropriate content such as horror-shocker SAW films series as well as not-safe-for-kids animated series South Park and replaces them with family favourites like Scooby Doo and Toy Story 3 (which we actually thought contained some distressing themes!)
There’s also emphasis on learning with a selection of National Geographic documentaries available through the £5.99 per month subscription service which comes with a whole month’s free trial to new signees and is already available through desktop and laptop PCs, as well as iPhones, iPads and Android phones and tablets, Smart TVs, Nintendo Wii and now Playstation 3 consoles.
