Nintendo of America Announces Wii U Price Cuts & Legend of Zelda Console

Following the spring price cuts on the Nintendo Wii U here in the UK and Europe, Nintendo of America plans to make a similar move in the States and have also detailed two new Premium packages including an epic Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD bundle.

Back in May the Wii U packages were reduced to just £149 and £199 respectively at select UK retailers and in the gradual phasing out process of the Basic white model, NOA will be dropping the price of the black Premium console by $50 in hope of raising its appeal following troublesome times for the struggling hardware.

Nintendo has put these teething problems down to too much focus being put on the hardware and not enough attention on proving to consumers how the games would actually work with the unique new platform. Part of Nintendo’s revised mission to get the Wii U into the player’s hands was to take the console on tour this summer so we can appreciate it in the very best way; to actually play it.

Another of Nintendo’s attempts to relaunch enthusiasm for the Wii U is to release two new packages; one complete with the multiplayer party game Nintendo Land and the other featuring a copy of the remade title, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.

Not only does the Zelda bundle come with ‘physical’ copy of the game but also a 32GB Premium console with a unique GamePad etched with gold lettering and Hyrule symbols, a Ganondorf figurine and a digital edition of the fantastically informative and lavishly illustrated Hyrule Historia book published by Dark Horse. It’s a beautiful bundle, not only rewarding for long-time The Legend of Zelda fans but also a great introduction package for newcomers to the classic Nintendo series which has stood the test of time for over 25 years.

The Wii U The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Premium package will cost $299 when launched in the US on September 20th. There’s no news on whether this will journey to the UK and Europe but we will keep our readers updated.
