New Nintendo Wii available November 4th

Nintendo has announced that it will be launching a new redesigned version of the popular Wii console in Europe on November 4th.

Not to be confused with the Nintendo Wii U, the redesigned console will come with a range of new games bundles in plenty of time for the Christmas season.

Nintendo announced the new console back in August at the Gamescom expo in Cologne. The console has been redesigned to be slimmer and sleeker than the current model and to sit horizontally rather than the typical vertical stance associated with the Wii.

Unfortunately Nintendo have cut out Gamecube support with the new Wii, meaning that you’ll no longer be able to connect retro Gamecube controller or play Gamecube games. We’ve got nothing against the Wii, but we won’t be buying one of the new consoles. Playing 4 player Super Smash Bros with Gamecube controllers is one of the best things about the Wii, so we’ll stick with our original console thanks!

The new console will be launched as a part of a brand new ‘Family Pack’ bundle, which will include the console, Wii Sports and Wii Party games, plus one upgraded Wii Remote Plus controller and Nunchuk accessory.

There will also be a Wii Fit Plus bundle launching on December 2nd, which consists of an exclusive Black Wii console, Wii Fit Plus game and a brand new Black Wii Fit Plus Balance Board.

If neither of these bundles takes your fancy, then you might want to take a look at the limited edition Blue Wii console with Mario and Sonic 2012 Olympics game bundle we announced yesterday. You’ll get a snazzy blue themed version of the new Wii, Mario and Sonic 2012 Olympics game plus colour-coordinated blue Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk accessories.

Will you be getting a new Nintendo Wii in time for family fun at Christmas?
