Nokia has just announced their cheapest phone ever at a press conference in Nigeria. The phone, which is designed for use in the developing world, will cost just €16 and includes a fairly decent set of features.
It runs Nokia’s Series 30 OS, making use of a numeric keypad and a 1.36” monochrome display. The OS includes a flashlight app, games (Snake!) and stereo FM radio. It includes anti-scratch covers and dust resistance, which in fine Nokia style should make the phone nigh-indestructible. It’ll also keep going for quite some time – 27 days on standby and 11 hours of talk-time thanks to an 800 mAh battery.
The Nokia 103 will be offered for sale initially in Nigeria, but will make an appearance world-wide soon. I reckon it’s a pretty good deal, and would certainly make for a low-cost backup phone. What do you think?
