Nokia Celebrates Lumia 800 Selling Out in the UK with a Free 4D Deadmau5 Gig in London

Despite recent talk of poor sales, Nokia has proudly announced that it’s first Windows Phone, the Lumia 800, has exceeded expectations in Europe, particularly in the United Kingdom and France.

Nokia recently published a statement, which reads: “Lumia 800 sales in the U.K. are off to an excellent start.

Based on earliest data the sales start of the Lumia 800 is the best ever first week of Nokia smartphone sales in the U.K. in recent history. By our measures, we have gained significant smartphone sell-out share in the channels in which we are operating in the U.K.

Orange UK has also recently confirmed that pre-order numbers for the Lumia 800 exceeded any other Nokia phone in the network’s history, which is pretty impressive. The network has been offering a free Xbox 360 console alongside the smartphone for those who opted to upgrade to Nokia’s latest gadget.

Orange’s parent company, French Telecom, also reported strong sales of the Lumia 800 in France, with the handset hitting the top of their charts within a few days of its release.

Nokia has been heavily promoting their first Windows Phone, and last night in London saw one of the biggest promotional displays for a mobile phone that we’ve seen to date. London’s Millbank Tower was the venue for a special, free, 4D outdoor gig featuring the Canadian electro DJ Deadmau5.

Deadmau5, who always performs wearing a large, and rather scary, mouse head, performed on stage at the bottom of the tower. Meanwhile, Nokia used a 3D projector to beam spectacular images onto London’s 400 foot Millbank Tower above the DJ. The light show coupled with the pounding electro beats from Deadmau5 on stage made for quite a show, of which you can catch a 5 minute clip of below.

We can’t wait to get our hands on the Nokia Lumia 800 when it finally goes on sale SIM-Free in a few days. If you’ve already got the phone on contract, why not let us know what you think about it.
