The recently rumoured Nokia Lumia 1520 smartphone-cum-tablet has made another leaked appearance online today and this time the six inch Windows Phone has been pictured next to Sony’s Xperia Z to show off the sheer size of Nokia’s incoming device.
The Lumia 1520 – codenamed “Bandit” – will be a Windows Phone 8 handset and will be the first large scale smartphone from Nokia that will come running the latest OS, and now with Nokia officially becoming a part of the Microsoft family, the 1520 might be one of the last Nokia smartphones made.
The images reveal the size and design of the Lumia 1520 handset and shows that the new Lumia will have virtually no bezel around the screen on the device. The handset had previously broken cover with another Lumia handset, the 1020, last month where we got to see the sheer size of the smartphone for the first time.
Speculated specifications for the 1520 say that the handset will come with a six-inch Full HD 1080p display and will be running off a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage plus a micro SD slot for storage expansion.
Word is that the Bandit will also come with the next iteration of the Windows Phone 8 operating system, currently known as GDR3. This update will usher in a new generation of more powerful Windows Phones thanks to support for Full HD displays and quad-core processors and seeing as the Lumia lineup is now official property of Microsoft, the 1520 may be the handset leading the way for the new software.
Nokia is rumoured to launch the Lumia 1520 in the coming weeks so stay tuned for more information on the beast.
