Nokia’s Lumia 800 Windows Phone was revealed last week at the Nokia World event in London and since that time the pricing of the first Nokia handset to feature the latest Microsoft update for mobiles has caused a little confusion.
The high street phone shop and online outlet for all things mobile, Carphone Warehouse, had mentioned that Pay As You Go scheme would cost handset buyers around £449 for the handset – later suggesting that this actually wasn’t so and that the Nokia Lumia 800 would be available on contract only. Several retailers and networks including Three and Orange, now say that – yes, the handset is up for grabs on PAYG costing £399 when it arrives on public sale on November 16th.
The Nokia Lumia, formerly known as the Sea Ray, features a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, 1.4GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 16GB storage – and because it’s a Microsoft Windows Phone packing latest ‘Mango’ update the smartphone can connect to Skydrive for 25GBs of ‘floating’ storage. Buyers can also enjoy the 5-megapixel camera and HD video recording when the first Nokia gadget featuring Windows Phone 7.5 drops very soon.
