Just a few days after websites in Russian and Kazakhstan reported that the new Nokia N9 would be in shops by mid-Agust, Orange’s official Swiss website has the handset down for September 15.
If you go onto the site you will be greeted with a coming soon image of the N9 and a list of its features – as well a release date later than previously reported.
The message reads: “This product is not yet available but will come soon. Check out its features and get ready for its launch on the 15.09.2011.”
The N9 come with a hefty 8 megapixel camera on the rear, a standard VGA camera on the front and a 1GHz single-core processor. Stats-wise the phone is on par with many other smartphones but the single core processor does seem a little sluggish to us.
It will also be the first handset to run the new Meego OS – a big step up from the less than successful Symbian operating system. But, there might be a version of the N9 coming to Windows Phone in the future, but nothing has been announced just yet.
However, a September release date in Switzerland doesn’t guarantee a September release for us in the United Kingdom, but those of you waiting for the first Meego-powered mobile can take this news that the N9 is on its way very soon.
