Earlier this week we were rather stunned when it was announced that the next iteration of Google’s sweet mobile OS Android (4.4) would be called KitKat and that this would actually be in partnership with the biscuit’s maker Nestle. Another major announcement in mobile news was that Microsoft would be obtaining Nokia’s devices and services relating to smartphones.
These two stories have now crossed over with dramatic effect as Nokia Germany has taken to Twitter to make a somewhat sinister jibe at Google and rival manufacturer Samsung.
The tweet from @NokiaHomebase featured the KitKat slogan ‘Have a Break’ and showed one of Samsung’s Android mobiles snapped in half in a twisted mockery of the familiar adverts for the chocolatey treat. Some are calling it ‘violent’ and a ‘death threat’ to Samsung who make the successful Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets, long-time host devices for the Android platform.
The Twitter taunt from Nokia has since caused a little bit of controversy but we think it may be a friendly joke that was taken a little bit too seriously! The Finnish company and maker of the Lumia Windows Phone range have sent a clear statement to its enemies following the Microsoft buyout and we look forward to see how Google and Samsung respond.
