Nokia has entered the WP7 race, after a long drawn out wait, entering with the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710. With these Phones Nokia needed something to keep them apart from the other WP7 manufacturers such as HTC and Samsung.
Nokia done this in the form of some Nokia specific apps. These were Nokia Drive, a turn by turn navigation App, Nokia Maps, a crossover of OVI maps from previous Nokia handsets and Nokia Music, an easy way to download all the latest chart hits.
Well one thing Nokia didn’t count on was how jealous developers using other WP& devices might feel when the saw that Nokia released these apps only for a Nokia device (well it is a little rude, if you come to the party late its only right you bring an extra gift). And there have been a couple of developers who have thought the same and got Nokia Drive, Maps and music running on some other WP7 devices.
The Apps come in .XAP format and are ready to run on any developer unlocked WP7 device, so if you have used the Chevron unlocker to unlock your device then be sure to grab the apps. All you have to do is a quick Google search and you will find them.
This is going to be a serious bug bear for Nokia, as there really is not much between almost every WP7 device, the hardware is almost always identical. And there are only so many touch screen designs that can incorporate the mandatory 3 buttons Microsoft have said are needed for WP7
