Heads up bargain hunters! O2 UK has slashed a whopping £180 off the price for the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY smartphone, taking it down to a mere £149.99 on Pay As You Go.
The Xperia PLAY is one of the latest Android smartphones from Sony Ericsson, and is in fact the first phone ever to be ‘Playstation Certified’. This means you’ll be able to play real Playstation One games on the phone, which can easily be downloaded from the Android Market and a specific games store which is on the phone.
Not only that, the phone has a slide out control pad which features the familiar button layout of a Playstation Controller. You’ve got digital analog sticks, a D-Pad and the classic Triangle, Square, Circle and X Playstation buttons. On the side of the phone there’s also Left and Right Shoulder buttons which fit perfectly in the hand when you tilt the phone sideways.
The Xperia PLAY runs the latest Android Gingerbread software, giving you access to Google Maps, Gmail and over 250,000 apps on the Android Market.
A large 4-inch touchscreen is the centrepiece of the phone and allows you to play games, watch movies and view photos in very high quality. Photos and HD video can be captured using the 5-Megapixel camera on the back of the phone, which also has an LED flash to help when shooting in low light conditions.
O2 are also offering a host of different deals for pay as you go customers who pick up the phone, such as the Talk and Text bundle which gets you 300 texts and 500MB of internet access for every time you top up by £10.
We’re big fans of the Xperia PLAY here at The Gadget Helpline – being able to play the original Crash Bandicoot on a mobile phone is SO awesome. If you’re in the market for a new phone on pay as you go then we strongly recommend you check out the offer before stocks run out!
