Having already been going great guns in the US for some time now, OnLive is ready to expand. The service, which lets you stream top-end games to any screen while it’s played from a remote server, has declared that it will launch in the UK on September 22nd.
CEO Steve Perlman says of the launch: “OnLive will utterly transform gaming in the UK,” said the service’s Founder and CEO Steve Perlman. “No discs, big downloads or specialised hardware needed. OnLive gives you the latest games instantly, anytime, anywhere on HDTV, PC, Mac, as well as iPad, Android tablets.”
The system will launch with over 100 recent and famous games, available to play either on your TV via the WiFi console or streamed to an already internet-enabled device, has the potential to change gaming as it doesn’t require users to need a machine with the latest specs. All the grunt work of gaming is done in OnLive’s servers, meaning all you need is a screen, an OnLive controller and a speedy web connection.
There’s no word yet on a UK subscription price, but we’ll keep you posted. Is this the gaming service that’ll change the way we play forever? Or is the UK’s broadband infrastructure not ready for the strain? Let us know on the Gadget Helpline Twitter feed.
