Orange has added another own-branded Android smartphone to their growing range, and it’s another that goes by the name of a European city.
We’ve had the Orange San Francisco, the Orange Barcelona and the Orange Stockholm. Now it’s time to meet the newest addition: the Orange Monte Carlo. It’s the daddy of the group and will head up Orange’s own-branded Android range.
The Monte Carlo boasts a 4.3-inch touchscreen and comes loaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), meaning apps from the Android Market and GPS courtesy of Google Maps. The other handsets in the range use Android 2.2 (FroYo), so the Monte Carlo is as up-to-date as you’ll get.
While not being the fastest or flashiest smartphone out there, the Monte Carlo can hold its own. An 800MHz processor will make video playback smooth and multitasking between apps easy. Orange’s HD Voice and Signal Boost features will be preloaded onto the handset too, meaning you’ll get crystal clear audio on calls and the ability to boost your signal via Wi-Fi.
Nicola Shenton, Head of Device Portfolio at Orange’s parent company Everything Everywhere, said “Orange believes it is important to bring great value innovation to the mass market – so that’s why today we’re announcing a series of new Orange Android devices which we believe will prove extremely popular with consumers in the forthcoming months.”
Orange hasn’t confirmed a release date or price for the Monte Carlo yet, though we know it is expected to launch over the summer. We’ll keep you updated on the price and release date.
