Panasonic launches line of London Olympics branded Gadgets

Being an official sponsor of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Panasonic has released something a bit special ahead of the event.

A whole range of new and existing products will be released together with some snazzy 2012 Olympics branding, including everything from memory cards to digital cameras. Panasonic has made just 2012 of each product (see what they did there?), each of which will come with a commemorative £5 “one year to go” coin made by the British Royal Mint.

At the top of the Olympics range is Panasonic’s DMC-G3 Lumix G compact camera, a cracking Digital SLR alternative that Panasonic already make in non-olympic form. The Olympic version of the G3 has exactly the same specifications as the regular model, the difference being a subtle gold Olympics 2012 logo on the fold out LCD screen. There will be black and white models available, with the white model sporting a slightly garish pink Olympics 2012 logo in the same spot as the black model. It’s a lightweight and compact camera, making it very portable yet perfect for on the go snaps. Panasonic’s Intelligent Auto shooting mode features on this device, meaning the camera will do all the hard work for you, without the worry of messing around with settings to get a good snap.

If you were lucky enough to get your hands on some Olympic tickets, you’ll most probably want to be filming the event you’re watching for reliving those memories. With that in mind, Panasonic will be releasing two of their digital camcorders complete with the Olympics 2012 logo and branding. The HDC –SD90EB is one of Panasonic’s newer camcorders and falls into the sub-£500 price bracket. It’s capable of shooting 3D footage if you add on the VW-CLT1 lens from Panasonic – perfect for getting that “really there” feeling when playing it back to your friends and family.

Panasonic’s ‘Point and Shoot’ HX-DC1 portable camcorder will also be getting the glossy white and pink logo makeover for the games. It shoots in HD quality thanks to the 14 megapixel sensor and is capable of up to 12x zoom; all for a price tag of around £150 (though Panasonic say the Olympic version will be cheaper than the regular model).

The Panasonic Olympics 2012 Camera Range

There’s also a range of accessories and gadgety goodies available, all of course complete with the Olympic branding. Three sets of sporty headphones will be available, all of which are in-ear and sweat-proof for use in sporty environments. One set are specifically in-ear and the other two models feature over-ear clips to make sure they don’t fall off when you’re getting sporty.

To complement the cameras and camcorders in the range, Panasonic will also be releasing 4, 8, 16 and 32GB SD memory cards which of course feature the Olympics 2012 logo and branding.

Prices for the products will be:

  • Lumix DMC-G3 Camera – £999.99
