Panasonic has today officially unveiled their latest micro four thirds camera, which will be known as the Lumix GF5.
If you’re a regular reader of the Gadget Helpline blog, you may have read our post back in march which detailed leaked information about the camera, however now we can bring you the official specification directly from Panasonic.
To be honest though, most of the leaked information turned out to be quite accurate. Like for example, the fact that Panasonic are claiming that the new GF5 features the fastest auto-focus motor currently available on the market. This allows the camera to focus on a subject within 0.09 seconds – impressive!
Other features of the new Lumix GF5 include a completely new updated 12 million pixel sensor, along with Panasonic’s new fast Venus engine. Combined with the new sensor, this allows you to capture images that are comparable to the popular G3. With the GF5, you’ll also get much higher ISO capabilities, along with a burst-mode of 4 fps.
The Lumix GF5 also features a number of built-in digital filters, including Cross Process, Toy Camera, Selective Colour and also Impressive Art. The filters allow you to creatively adjust the level of effect applied to the images you’ve captured, to get the exact results you require.
On the back of the GF5 you’ll find a LCD touchscreen used to access the various shooting options available, such as aperture priority along with various scene modes.
If this sounds like your ideal camera, you can pick up the Lumix GF5 along with the standard 14-42mm lens for £449. There will also be a kit which features the new power zoom “X” lens; this will cost around £550.
