parkrun and Fitbit Partner to Promote Every Day Activity

Public run organisers parkrun (intentional small p) have teamed up with fitness wearable maker Fitbit in a new scheme to encourage activity beyond the weekly run scene.

parkrunners are normal every day folk who gather every Saturday morning in hundreds of locations up and down the country to complete a 5 kilometre circuit. Some do it to get a best time, some do it for fitness, and some just do it for fun. But they all do it in the spirit of the Parkrun, the main point of which is to be active.

To carry this enthusiasm over from the weekend to the week days parkrun and Fitbit will be promoting one another and offering deals to its registered runners. The first of which being £15 off any Fitbit tracker to help get a head-start on a healthy lifestyle.

Owning a Fitbit allows you to track your activities, distances and personal bests, starting with simple and easy to use models to more advanced ones in the range, some of which will even monitor your heart rate and sleep pattern, helping you get the rest you need to be at your best.

As well as the savings on Fitbit gadgets parkrun will be setting regular challenges which incorporate the wearable, thus keeping their owners motivated and a Facebook page for Fitbit parkrun friends has also been set up which encourages this incredibly lively and supportive community.

To get a £15 discount on Fitbit trackers you’ll need to be a registered parkrunner. Signing up is free with locations across the UK and the world putting on runs once a week.
