The coolest iPad accessory of the week has to go to this little gadget; the ION Piano Apprentice. Using the “magic” of the iPad, a funky little keyboard and an app you can learn to play the keyboard or piano.
How technology has moved on – When I was a kid I was given an awesome little Casio keyboard which had buttons that played pre-installed ditties. I could pretend I was playing them and everything.
Technology has evolved and kids want to learn interactively, usually using Apple products. That’s where the ION Piano Apprentice comes in. A midi-sized keyboard with 25 keys hooks up to an Apple iPad, iPad 2, iPhone or iPod Touch to provide beginner piano and keyboard tuition full-screen using a downloadable app.
The app has been developed in conjunction with professional instructor Scott Houston, and teaches you how to read sheet music, play basic notes and chords and also some songs. Your iPad or iPhone will display the same keyboard as yours, with keys lighting up on-screen to indicate which ones you are to press on the ION keyboard.
The keyboard itself is powered by either four AA batteries or an AC adaptor, which can be purchased separately. We’re awaiting a price and release date for this accessory but we’ll keep you updated when we know!
