After the announcement of the new iPhone 4S, there were assorted cries of disappointment with many thinking that Apple would be announcing a newly designed iPhone to release to the masses, which evidently was not the case. And along with this disappoint amongst some, comes speculatulation as to whether this version of the iPhone will be a bit of a flop.
Well, interestingly enough, latest figures suggest the total opposite, with US network AT&T taking more than 200,000 iPhone 4S pre-orders during the first 12 hours of availability. Thus making the 4S the networks most successful iPhone launch to date according to a company spokesperson.
On Friday, less than a day after the iPhone 4S became available to pre-order, the delivery estimates from Apple’s online store now say that the smartphone would be shipped in “1-2 weeks” instead of its actual release date – the 14th October, which suggests that Apple have sold all of the first batch of iPhone 4S handsets.
For anyone who is not familiar with the recently announced iPhone 4S, visually the handset is the same as the iPhone 4 – however there has been a lot changed on the inside with the new 4S now sporting the Apple A5 chip for super-fast performance and impressive graphics, along with an upgraded 8MP camera and lens system. Finally, the new iPhone 4S also features new voice-driven personal assistant software called Siri.
It’s believed that Apple shipped between 24 million and 25 million iPhones in September, with predictions that this figure will grow to around 27 million by the end of December.
