PS4 Update 1.60 Available from Today with Wireless Headphone Support

Sony rolls out a new firmware update for PS4 today and version 1.60 will introduce support for a range of official wireless stereo headsets.

Announced through Sony’s blog the system software update was launched overnight and is recommended for all PlayStation 4 owners but will specifically benefit those interested in the Pulse, Pulse Elite and Gold wireless bluetooth headsets from Sony which boast an ‘advanced gaming experience’ through 7.1 virtual surround sound and sharp audio for voice chat.

The PS4 system update to v1.60 will lead into the release of the Headset Companion App which will be free on the PlayStation Store later in the month and will offer a range of game specific customisable options for titles such as Infamous Second Son.

To Get the 1.60 Update with Wireless or Wired Internet:

The PS4 system should automatically check for and download any available updates while the console is in standby mode. When notified you will you will need to check your Notifications for Downloads and install the update.

If you’re not notified or have powered off your console you may want to enter the Settings and select System Software Update to check if it’s available.

To Get the Update on USB (Console Offline):

If your PS4 is not connected online, or you find the download seem to take a while, you can get it through a computer connected to the web, with a USB flash drive with minimum of 400MB available space.
