Rdio takes on Spotify with 6 months of free music streaming in the UK

Fancy six whole months of music streaming for free? Thought so. Rdio is taking on the likes of Spotify and Deezer by offering new members a very respectable half-year of free access to its music streaming services here in the UK.

Perhaps less familiar to most than Spotify, Rdio offers many similar features and has been doing so for quite some time now. Users can stream tracks, build playlists, subscribe, share, and even listen to artist and genre-based radio stations on PC and mobile.

The offer applies only to new subscribers and will work through Rdio’s desktop app or web service – unfortunately not on mobiles. However, it does mean you’ll get access to the expansive 18 million-strong library of songs on offer, as well as radio stations.

Unfortunately your music listening experience won’t be completely unlimited. When logged in users will see a meter at the top of the page which shows how much free listening time they have remaining each month. The meter resets at the end of each month, giving you a new allowance for the following month.

Like Spotify, Rdio offers two paid subscription models at £4.99 and £9.99 per month. The cheaper package is designed for PC listeners who want an unlimited experience, whereas the £9.99 bundle will score mobile access through Rdio’s selection of smartphone apps.

If you’re looking to start streaming music or even if you want to see what Rdio is all about, you can sign up for a free 6 months right here.
