Yet more retailers have run out of stock of the current Apple TV set top box, leading many to speculate that there is a new version coming very soon.
According to the latest reports the small black box is no long on sale at PC World with the retailer stating that they can’t replenish their stock.
Adding even more fuel to the fire staff at the retailer are telling perspective buyers that they cannot place an order for the Apple set top box, which is an unusual move for the Dixons Retail-owned company.
PC World is one of a host of retailers who have run out of stock for Apple TV, with retailers in the US revealing shortages of the current generation Apple TV.
It’s thought that the new version might be unveiled alongside the iPad 3 at a media event next month, it is expected to support 1080p video streaming something the new iPad 3 will utilise with it’s Retina display.
Rumour suggest that we might also get a redesigned user interface and more new features that could offer clues about Apple’s rumoured plans to launch a standalone HD TV set in 2012 or 2013.
We’d also hope to see some new apps and services added to the mix, as the set-top box has been a poorly supported since its launch in autumn 2010.
While there’s no guarantee that Apple’s “hobby” device is truly being replaced, it wouldn’t surprise us to see a new Apple product for the living room soon.
