On Friday Rovio teased us with a brand new Tumblr page that had a mysterious Star Wars-related image of an angry bird extending a lightsaber, which sent us into a frenzy with thoughts of an official Angry Birds and Star Wars tie-in game!
Well people, hold onto your midi-chlorians, as Angry Birds Star Wars is now official thanks to an announcement video by Rovio.
It’s looking like our feathered friends will be taking up the fight of the rebels against the intergalactic empire, as some of our favourite Angry Birds will be filling the shoes of the Star Wars cast in this game. With the plucky red bird taking on the role of Luke Skywalker, yellow bird is now Han Solo with big brother bird as his faithful friend Chewy, white egg bird as R2-D2 and C3PO, pink bird as Princess Leia and the black bomb bird will be playing the part of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Plus, you guessed it – those pesky pigs will be playing the Galactic Empire and Darth Vader.
The Star Wars aspect will also play a part in the game’s dynamics, as the music and levels for gravity-based play will change with the film tie-in aspects!
As you can imagine, from Angry Birds and Star Wars there will also be an extensive toys and accessories range with the games, so expect kids to want a Han Solo yellow bird at Christmas.
The game is released on November 8th for iOS, Android and PC, and if it follows the original film storyline we can expect follow-up games for the rest of the trilogy.
