The place to go at the moment if you want your fix of smartphone rumours is via the Twitter account @upleaks – and the latest bit of juicy info arriving from their direction is that HTC are apparently releasing a selfie-obsessed persons dream phone; codenamed HTC Desire Eye.
The smartphone itself is alleged to feature a 5.2” 1080p HD screen and will run on the powerful Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.3GHz and 2GB RAM. But the most interesting feature of this rumoured device is centred on its front facing camera – what’s so interesting? Well, it thought that it will feature a very impressive (and probably first) dedicated 13MP front camera coupled with duel-LED flash and also 13MP rear camera too.
If this info turns out to be true, I’m sure it will give some tough competition for the upcoming Oppo N3 that also features a 13MP camera, but gives users the ability to rotate it around to capture your selfies.
Other rumoured specs suggest that the Desire Eye will also have 32GB of internal storage, impressive 2,400 mAh battery and will also be IP certified for water resistance. As you’d expect, it will feature Android and also have the latest Sense 6 UI along with the a dedicated selfie Eye camera app as well.
While there aren’t any live images of the handset at the moment, instead just renders it’s still possible that HTC might lift the lid on this during their upcoming press event on October 8 in New York. It’s expected that HTC will be officially announcing another leaked device; the high-end HTC One (M8 Eye) with the main feature also being a 13MP Duo rear camera instead of HTC’s previously used 4MP UltaPixel sensor. Also, as you may have already heard, it thought that HTC will also be unveiling a new action camera to compete with the likes of GoPro, Sony Action Cam and Contour but to name a few.
There is no info as yet to give any idea as to what the rumoured Desire Eye might cost, or indeed when it will be available. Let’s just hope that the info via @upleaks comes good and that we might see this little gem sooner rather than later.
