Samsung has denied the rumours that its upcoming event on Thursday 22nd March has anything to do with the announcement of the Galaxy SII follow-up. The French language invites began rolling out yesterday, and after previously making very clear that the Galaxy SIII would not be making an appearance at the end of February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the only sensible guess would be that the much-anticipated Android smartphone would debut at this new event. That’s not so, claim the Koreans..
Yesterday the France-based Android website, ingeniously named Frandroid, boastfully flashed off its invite to the March 22nd Samsung event, which is to be organised to take place in the country, and since that time speculation has, quite logically, been directed at the elusive Galaxy SIII. However, today Samsung themselves has addressed this speculation in a statement to fellow tech site T3, slamming the door closed on the rumours and saying “This is a media open day event in France which happens twice a year. It has nothing to do with any new launches.”
So.. No to a Samsung Galaxy SIII at the MWC in Barcelona. No to a Samsung Galaxy SIII at the France event. When are we actually going to see the smartphone rumoured to impress with a1.5GHz quad-core CPU and 2GB of on-board RAM with 64GB of storage, 12-megapixel shooter and set to come packing newest Android platform, 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in a chassis just 7mm thick??
