It would seem there is another Galaxy smartphone to join the ever-growing family from Samsung, this time it’s the Samsung Galaxy Z.
Mobile network Three’s Swedish division prematurely put a page up for the Galaxy Z on their website yesterday evening. Though it looks strikingly similar to the hugely popular Galaxy S II, Three have described it as an “affordable little brother to the Galaxy S II”.
Despite being a little brother, the Z still packs a fair punch when it comes to the specifications. Like the S II, it features Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and a dual-core processor. Being the younger sibling, the Z’s processor speed is 1GHz, compared to the S II’s 1.2GHz power. That’s still a very respectable speed for an Android smartphone, so don’t expect the Galaxy Z to be a slouch!
Screen size is just a fraction smaller than the S II at 4.2 inches and this time Samsung have opted for a “Super Clear LCD” panel over the Super AMOLED Plus of the Galaxy S II. The Galaxy Z will retain the same 480 x 800 resolution though so expect crisp, sharp images.
There’s also Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, “Turbo 3G”, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 720p HD video recording and 8GB of onboard storage, rounding up a very decent specifications list.
Samsung themselves haven’t confirmed the handset or pricing, but perpetrators of the leak Three have stated a price of KR3995 SIM-free, which roughly translates to £400.
