Samsung’s Swedish Galaxy Z smartphone looks set to be hitting UK and European shores this month under the pseudonym Galaxy R.
Previously leaked by mobile network Three’s Swedish division, the Galaxy Z was to be the hugely popular Galaxy S II’s little brother for those who want Samsung Galaxy quality on a budget.
Featuring a 4.2-inch Super Clear LCD screen, Dual-Core 1GHz processor, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, a 5-megapixel rear camera and “Turbo 3G” connectivity, the Galaxy Z or R still has some fantastic specifications and borrows the same slim and sleek great looks from the Galaxy S II.
There’s also 720p HD video recording, GPS, FM Radio and 8GB of onboard storage amongst other features of the Galaxy R.
Samsung haven’t commented on why exactly the name has been changed, though our guess is that the ‘Z’ model will be for Europe and the ‘R’ will be for the UK. There’s no official price for the Galaxy R just yet, though it will be released nearer the end of this month and should be around £100-£150 cheaper than the big daddy – the Galaxy S II.
We’re currently awaiting confirmation from several networks on availability of the Galaxy R in the UK, we’ll keep you updated.
