No Samsung Galaxy S II in the States due to lack of interest by network carriers?

Samsung’s Galaxy S II has soared to 3-million sales in 55-days, despite not yet hitting American shores. The US absence of the handset is now being attributed to the surprising lack of interest by some of the country’s mobile networks.

Verizon are amongst those accused of snubbing the Korean tech co.’s Android wonder phone and native news outlet Digital Chosun Ilbo suggests this is down to Sammie’s code division multiple access channelling not matching up with American mobile protocol or the expertise of network favourites such as Motorola.

The Korean online rag reports “When the Galaxy S smartphone was launched last year, no competing new models by Motorola and HTC were available” adding “As far as US telecoms were concerned, the Galaxy S was the only alternative to the iPhone last year. But the new model faces much tougher competition.”

No official reponse from Samsung as of yet, but an exec admits that negotiations with the US networks have “dragged on”.

With expectation rising for a Samsung model handset supporting Windows Phone 7 and its highly anticipated Mango update, we’d think now is the time for US to wise up and welcome the Galaxy S II.
