Samsung is allegedly sizing up the idea of introducing a new line-up of smartphone/tablet gadgets which will not be part of the popular Galaxy Note family and will be known as the ‘Galaxy Mega’ range.
The rumour originates from SamMobile, a usually very accurate source for all things Samsung, which reports that these massive Android based mobiles will arrive around mid-year and the initial product launch will include two versions – the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 (GT-I9152) which will come in Black, and the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (GT-19200) available in White.
The number at the end indicates the screen size, so we could be looking at some titan tech that will shadow the current and previous Galaxy Note models, the most recent of which features a 5.5” Super AMOLED display, and the new range will still work as both a tablet computer and functional phone – commonly referred to as a ‘Phablet’.
It’s also interesting to note, that it had been suggested previously that a future Galaxy Note (Note 3) would come with a 6.3″ display, a report which this news today seems to mirror.
We’re post-April Fool’s Day but the Gadget Helpline is inclined to take the Galaxy Mega news with a pinch of salt until officially confirmed. Samsung has its hands full at the moment with the brand new flagship Galaxy S4 arriving within the next few weeks so once the promotional push for this year’s crown jewel we could hear more about these Mega new additions to the brand.
