This week saw the long-awaited arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and with it some significant upgrades to the S-Pen – Samsung’s high tech stylus which has become not only an accessory, but an essential companion to the Note family of products.
The new S-Pen is designed for life – and both business and pleasure have been considered in its creation with a range of handy uses available from scribbling your work reminders or personal thoughts down with S Note, translating word and highlighting an important piece of text or even making your own fun gifs and sending drawings to your mates over text. And with Air Command you need not even unlock the device or press stylus to screen to perform some of the Note 7 S-Pen’s key functions such as glance, magnify and translate – this happens automatically when the stylus is pulled out so it’s always ready to use right away. And just like the Note 7 handset itself, the S-Pen is also created to be resistant to dust and water meaning it can be used under most conditions and you can even scribble notes under water, if you should be so inclined.
Thanks to a sleeker new design the Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s S-Pen is more comfortable and natural to hold like a regular pen, and also the tip is almost a full millimetre smaller offering a precision 0.7mm tip which replaced the 1.6mm tip provided with the Galaxy Note 5. The pressure sensor level is twice as sensitive as previous gen as well, meaning less effort is needed and the S-Pen glides effortlessly.
With features such as Smart Select Gif, Scroll Capture and the Translation tool the new S-Pen supplied with the Galaxy Note 7 is the most diverse it’s ever been – a huge step up from the stylus provided with the original Galaxy Note back in 2012.
