Samsung has officially confirmed that its rather awesome looking Galaxy Note smart device will be hitting UK shelves on November 3rd, a full two weeks earlier than we previously thought.
The mini-tablet, or giant smartphone, will set you back a fair bit – Clove Technology has priced it up at £594. Mind you, there’s an awful lot of tech on offer for your money here, including a large 5.3-inch Super AMOLED display and dual-core 1.4GHz processor.
The Galaxy Note has its own special feature that hasn’t been seen before on any Samsung Galaxy device; a smart touch pen that Samsung are calling the ‘S Pen’. The special stylus lets you draw and make notations on the screen using a selection of preloaded applications.
The announcement was made last night at Samsung’s launch party for the device in London. “We’ve had a great response from our retail partners, customers and industry watchers alike following the Galaxy Note announcement at IFA in September and are excited that consumers will be able to buy the device from a wide range of retailers as of next week,” said Simon Stanford, Managing Director, Mobile, Samsung UK and Ireland.
Samsung also confirmed that the Galaxy Note would be available in white, just like the Galaxy S II, from day one, for the same price. Carphone Warehouse have confirmed that they will be stocking the device, and of course, Clove have it in stock ready for the release date.
A selection of custom apps will be available for Galaxy Note owners to make the most of the S Pen. These include Zen Brush, Comicbook!, and iAnnotate PDF, which let the user draw, create cartoons and annotate files and documents.
Samsung recently aired a TV commercial for the device, which gives you a good look at the S Pen and drawing apps. However, Samsung still won’t confirm if this device is a smartphone or tablet, saying “Phone? Tablet?” at the end.
