Samsung’s latest Tablet device, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is coming… but it’s been an absolute age since we have seen the device after it was first announced back at CTIA in Orlando six months ago.
Luckily for our American friends, their wait is almost over, as reportedly the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be released stateside next week with an October 2nd official release date. Customers can already Pre –Order the devices from the likes of Amazon and other online retailers but the tablet is looking set to come into stores as of next Monday.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is going to be a slim beauty and the successor to the original seven-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab device that was released earlier in the year. The 8.9 will feature a minimal 8.6mm thickness, with a 8.9-inch Gorilla Glass screen, with a 1280×800 WXGA resolution, all weighing in at just 470g.
Also packing a 1GHz dual-core processor, the Android-based tablet features the aforementioned 8.9” display with 1280×800 resolution, front-facing 2MP camera as well as 3MP video rear-shooter with 720P video recording, Wi-Fi, HSPA+, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB connectivity come within the slate’s 8.6mm body. Back when the tablet was first officially announced it was touted as the World’s Slimmest Tablet at the CTIA Wireless event 2011.
Next week’s release will be for the Wi-Fi only version of the device in a 16GB version for $469 and $569 for the larger 32GB version.
There is still no word on a release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the UK and but if you cant wait why not try out the 8.9’s sister product the larger Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
