Samsung’s new Gear Fit Smart Fitness band has completely sold out within its first ten days of being made available to the public earlier this month. Samsung are said to have sold onwards of 250,000 units with retailers still taking orders.
Samsung Gear Fit is a fitness and health observer. It features a built in heart rate monitor, which works by a small sensor on the underside of the band that touches the skin. The device also has a pedometer, timer & stopwatch and a distance tracker and calorie burn monitor. It combines the features of a fitness tracker and smartwatch as it also gives you the ability to cancel incoming calls and change between music tracks while you’re working out.
With competitors like Nike FuelBand SE and Jawbone UP24, Samsung have done well to get off to such a flying start; especially considering the first Generation Galaxy Gear smartwatch struggled to capture the consumers attention. These results are showing a positive shift in the wearable technology market and demand for such products appears to be on the up.
No doubt there may be a few more technology giants jumping on the bandwagon in the near future!
