Samsung continues to tease its next piece of wearable tech – a fashionable reinvention of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, called Gear S2 – which now appears in a new promo clip ahead of officially launching next month.
The first thing you’ll notice about Samsung’s new smartwatch is that its round. You may think a circular face without corners might limit its smartphone-like functionality and reduce workable surface area but it’s definitely a more stylish looking gadget and apparently seems to utilize every bit of space by presenting apps in a dial format. This also makes the clock and fitness-tracking modes demonstrated in the video look a whole lot more natural.
Despite the fact it’ll probably come running the lesser-loved Samsung-backed operating system Tizen, this looks like it could be the wearable device to give the Apple Watch a run for its money. Co-incidentally, the cost of the product will be a deciding factor there and also the substance supporting the style will need to be taken into consideration. Specifications, however, are yet to be divulged by the Korean mobile manufacturer.
All will be revealed on September the 3rd when Samsung reveals the Gear S2 at a press event in Berlin. The clock is ticking.
