Samsung and Google ride again! Telly partnership expected next year

  • by

Samsung and Google are said to be in final talks to follow up from recent launch of the partnership’s Galaxy Nexus smartphone with a new television system to tune in with some top Samsung tech and awesome Google Android coming in 2012.

Samsung telly boss, Yoon Boo-Keun confirmed to reporters that a project with Google is set to get underway soon but reveals nothing about what the tech and spec behind the new box might entail. We can expect programming, Androidy goodness and app-based content delivered through the usually stunning Samsung screens.

It’s true that Google has been pushing – and failing – to get a digital TV brand out since late last year, so we suspect the company bit the proverbial hand off of the South Koreans for a chance to buddy up on another project, following the massive hype and buzz surrounding the recently on sale smartphone and the unfortunate splits with a number of early-supporters of Google TV.

Google has also previously stated its intention to provide Blu-Ray and set-top boxes, which is incredibly ambitious for the company who are up until now struggling to find a confident host for its telly wares including a breakdown of the partnership with set manufacturer Logitech and most wounding, an unsuccessful venture with Sony. Google sticking to what it’s best at, delivering interfaces and apps to please, while Samsung brings the hardware will hopefully prove the winning combination.
