Samsung has plans to launch a tougher, waterproof version of its soon-to-be-launched flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4. Furthermore, we’re told the rugged brute is coming in a few months.
Speaking at a launch event for the S4 in Dubai, Samsung’s President of Electronics for the Gulf region, Young Soo Kim, let slip the details. He noted that a ruggedized version of the S4 will be available in the coming months, confirming it will have both waterproof and dustproof qualities.
Samsung is no stranger to tough smartphones, launching Android models like the Galaxy Xcover and Galaxy Rugby in the past. However, these phones have featured decidedly middle of the road specifications to make room for extra protective bulk, so a tough phone with real flagship properties would be a very interesting prospect indeed.
Once launched, the tough S4 will be able to compare itself to the Sony Xperia Z; a rival flagship handset that boasts waterproof capabilities. If you want to check out just how waterproof Sony’s phone is, take a look at our nerve-wracking dunk test right here.
If you reckon you’re careful enough to not need a tough phone then the regular version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 goes on sale tomorrow (April 26th) across the UK and many other regions. To find all the best prices, deals and places to buy one, check out our comprehensive buying guide below.
