So you thought Samsung’s new Series 7 laptops announced this morning were pretty awesome? Well meet the next member of the Series 7 family – the Samsung Slate PC Series 7.
Again looking sleek and stylish to fit the Series 7 bill, the Slate PC is an 11.6-inch tablet PC running a full version of Windows 7. When you think tablet PC you think Nvidia Tegra 2 or dual-core chip, but this tablet is in a whole other league.
An Intel Core i5 chip powers the Slate PC (you can also opt for a less powerful Core i3 or Pentium Chip), along with a hefty 4GB of RAM for fast booting, program loading and multitasking. The 11.6-inch screen is of the widescreen variety and is capable of displaying High Definition video quality in a 16:9 picture ratio.
There is also 32 or 64GB of SSD storage available along with Wi-Fi, WiMAX and 3G connectivity. On the edge of the tablet are a full-sized USB port, MicroSD slot and HDMI socket.
The Samsung Slate PC also features a 3-megapixel rear camera for pictures and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling with applications like Windows Live Messenger.
Samsung will be offering an additional dock for use with the Slate PC, adding full-sized USB, HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet connections as well as a Bluetooth connection for a wireless keyboard. Battery life is around 7 hours while the tablet weighs 0.86kg and is 12.7mm thick.
We’re yet to hear from Samsung about a price or release schedule for the Slate PC Series 7, though we’ll keep you posted.
