Is a Samsung-made Nexus Prime arriving in October?

The latest news circulating the tech blogs is that Samsung will be producing the next Google Android phone, called the Nexus Prime, which apparently will launch in October and be the first Android device to run the much talked about Android Ice Cream Sandwich update.

It’s reported that the device will have a 4.5-inch screen with 720p resolution, most probably using Samsung’s newest generation of SuperAMOLED screens, rumours also suggest that it will be powered by a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, with a higher clock speed than the stock version.

We know Samsung’s intentions to announce some new products when they teased us with a video of their Berlin Unpacked event, which happens on the eve of the IFA.  It’s expected that Samsung will show off the I9250 – apparently an Android Ice Cream Sandwich running phone, which has a similar spec sheet to the Nexus Prime.

You may be thinking that surely the fact that Google have aquired Motorola, they’d be the ones producing the successor to the Nexus S – although, the acquisition has not been fully completed yet, so the thought of Samsung producing the handset is still very much a possibility, although we’d imagine that the successor to the Nexus Prime most probably will be a Motorola handset.

Anyway, it’s not too long before the IFA 2011 event in Berlin, so hopefully we should be getting a clearer picture very soon.
