It’d be nice if there was a uniform process for taking a screenshot on all smartphones, but as it stands most phones are different. Thankfully with Windows Phone 8 there seems to be a process that works with every phone we’ve tried, and it’s simple.
To perform a screenshot in any area on your Windows Phone, simply press and hold the power button and then touch the Windows button below the screen. Hold both together for a second and you’ll see the screen flash to indicate a successful screenshot – ‘Saving to screenshots’ will also appear at the top of the screen.
You’ll find your screenshots by going in to the Photos app and opening Albums. From here you can easily share your screenshot via email, NFC and the other usual Windows Phone 8 options.
There are apps in the Store that offer screenshot functionality, but we’d suggest taking a minute to learn this simple 2 button combination to make things much easier.
We’ve tested this process on the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, Samsung Ativ S and the 8X and 8S Windows Phones by HTC and found the process to work perfectly.
