Carphone Warehouse has listed the SIM-free Nexus 4 on its UK website, although the price differs quite considerably from the Play Store. Over at Google’s digital store, the 16GB variant costs £279, whereas Carphone Warehouse are selling it for a stonking £389.95 – we guess that’s the price you pay for such a rare gadget.
Alternatively, an eBay seller is selling the handset for $649, which equates to an even pricier £410 in UK money. 21 have already been sold, with around 10 left available. It would seem that supply is nowhere near matching demand, especially after Google seemed to have oversold the handset when it launched earlier this month through the Play Store. Some users who successfully made a payment have been hit with a three week back order for their handset, with the only option left to be to take one out on contract.
O2 has a one month exclusivity deal with the Nexus 4 here in the UK, and the cheapest monthly tariff with the phone free is a quite frankly crazy £36. Nevertheless, some eager Android fans queued up on launch day to buy one from atop the O2 Arena in London.
Would you pay an over the top rate in order to get your hands on a SIM-free Nexus 4, or are these prices simply too high?
