“One line of code” prevents Siri voice command for iPhone 4S from coming to Android

  • by

A single line of coding prevents Siri – the exclusive iPhone voice command system (or virtual Jeeves as I like to refer to it) – from being used on Android gadgets, claims a French developer research website.

Applidium say that they’ve striped down Siri to find that the Cupertino co.’s claims that the software will only ever work on iPhone tech is a load of toffee (Apple!). With this in mind, and considering that Siri is dependant on software rather than hardware – which was the company’s suggestion, it is in fact possible that, with a third-party created client, to confuse Siri into believing it was running on iOS 5 for iPhone 4S – would actually be running on HTC, Samsung, Motorola or any other operating-software-running with microphone device.

The code discovered by Applidium is a one-off, unique to every iPhone 4S unit. Without it Siri simply won’t connect and the only way to get this crucial code is ripping out the heart of many iPhone 4S gadgets or bootlegging the code, risking more than a slap on the wrist by legal crusaders Apples. And sadly its that one string of letters and numbers that makes these findings redundant – for now.
