Sky TV and Twitter Bring ‘Watch’ and ‘Record’ Feature to Social Web

Sky and Twitter have teamed up to take virtual ‘water cooler’ chit-chat about our favourite shows such as Game of Thrones to a new level by adding Record and Watch features to telly-based tweets.

Posts from Sky TV will appear on Twitter with the hashtag #WatchOnSky and these tweets will feature two buttons that work in co-operation with the Sky Go app. These are Record which will send a message to your Sky +HD box at home, instructing it to record a specific program, sports event or film.

On the other hand, Watch which will bring up an on-demand or live show right on your smartphone or tablet screen. For example, if you’ve missed the latest “GoT” or your team’s big football match and see it mentioned on a Sky Twitter feed, such as @SkyHD, @SkySports and @SkyAtlantic, you’ll be able to join the action right there and then with a quick tap of a button.

We think it’s a really smart move for Sky to address the popularity of social networking and by uniting Twitter and Sky Go seek to capitalise on one of the leading hubs for TV based conversation and sharing of information.
