Skype for Windows Phone is now official as a full version has been released this weekend to the Marketplace, shifting out of Beta and delivering a cool selection of communication methods to owners of gadgets such as the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC Titan.
Microsoft acquired the voice and video chat brand Skype back in mid-2011 but surprisingly didn’t include its new weapon into the integrated social arsenal which was one of the key selling points for the new update to the Windows Phone OS. The software app was announce at this year’s Mobile World Congress and released as a Beta or trial version in February allowing Microsoft mobile platform users to use some of the basic features of the chatty app, including instant messaging.
Now Skype for Windows Phone has expanded and users can now enjoy the full service including video chat and an interface specially optimised for the operating system which allows you to add new contacts and make landline calls over Wi-Fi or 3G connection. The Skype app is available in 18 languages, is completely free, and is available in full version from the Windows Phone Marketplace now.
