Been thinking that you’ve done all there is to do in Skyrim? You’d better get ready for more action, as the first major expansion pack for the Elder Scrolls title has launched today on Xbox 360.
Skyrim: Dawnguard is now available as a DLC (Downloadable Content) pack from the Xbox Live Marketplaced, priced at 1,600 Microsoft Points, which equates to roughly £13 in real money.
Dawnguard is the first major update to the game, and brings in new characters, weapons, missions, enemies and much more. We covered the pack in full a while back, but as a refresher here’s what’s new and in store for fans of the game:
Vampire Lord Harkon has gained power and hopes to use the Elder Scrolls to pull off a dastardly deed: he wants to end the sun. This is preferably to save his light-hating race of vampires, and your first choice is whether to join him in becoming a Vampire Lord, or join the Dawnguard and fight against his evil plot.
The game adds plenty of new quests and tasks – as if there weren’t enough already in Skyrim! – Along with plenty of new locations and even weaponry. The crossbow makes an appearance in Dawnguard, which we’re assuming will become your weapon of choice should you choose to fight against the vamps.
There will also be new underwater swimming dragons to duel with, if vampires aren’t enough to get your gaming thumbs a-twitching.
The update is pretty hefty 581.70MB in size, and we’re aware that those with the 4GB slim console are having trouble downloading the update. You’ll need to view your console’s memory via the Settings menu or insert a USB stick to take on the file.
PlayStation 3 users aren’t so lucky, and will need to wait another month before the update lands on their console – Xbox 360 users get first looks today.
