Here at the Gadget Helpline we run a paperless office, this means we generally use whiteboards for any call notes which is, of course, better for the environment.
For those that wish to have as little carbon impact as possible during their everyday life there is a new gadget in town that you may well punt up your hard-earned cash for quite happily.
The Rocketbook Wave gives the freedom of a traditional paper and pen notebook whilst simultaneously uploading your notes or sketches to the cloud via a smartphone.
The Rocketbook goes hand in hand with Pilot Frixion pens and comes bundled with one if you pre-order on Indiegogo. Frixion ink erases due to Pilot’s exclusive thermo-sensitive ink tech. When the ink heats up to over 60 degrees C it becomes invisible. Now, Frixion pens do come with an eraser built into the pen that creates friction in order to heat up the ink on the page and effectively, vanish it.
What the Rocketbook Wave does it quite impressive. You can pop the whole notebook into a microwave oven and re-use it once all the pages are blank again
Yes, you can writes notes or sketch in the notebook and re-use it which is impressive enough but read on for the really cool part.
By using patent-pending image capture technology, the Rocketbook accurately captures your pages quickly and sends them straight to pre-configured cloud services, via the smartphone app.
Each page has seven symbols along the bottom. These seven symbols can be edited by the user to point to where they want it sent e.g. pop a cross into one you have decided via the app is google drive and off it goes once scanned. Each page also has a narrow dark border surrounding it. The border allows the Rocketbook app to find your page quickly in any environment or background.
Rocketbook app instantly crops and enhances each page so the digital versions are more crisp and vibrant than the original.
Thus, with your notes safely in the cloud the Rocketbook can then be wiped to start afresh.
This, in itself is a breeze to do. Just pop it in the microwave with a mug of water, hit start and watch for the thermal logo to turn white. As soon as it does, your notes are erased.
Currently on Indiegogo and has already surpassed its target the Rocketbook is a steal at $27/£18 plus shipping.
Happy sketching!
