Social Round-Up: Update to Facebook App on iOS & Android Brings Bigger Pictures & Twitter Delivers a Daily Digest

[tab name=’News’]

Leading social networks Facebook and Twitter have both gotten an update to their services today, so we thought we’d combine them into one article aimed at all our friendly internet users!

First up the Facebook app for Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch as well as Android smartphones and tablets has undergone a refresh. The overall design on the app and its mobile browser based counterpart has gone big – like really big. Posts fill the screen and have been made sharper with fonts clearer and to cater for this the software seems to run a lot smoother (dependant on the speed of your gadget, of course).

Most notably the update delivers much larger and sharper previews of photos and with this attention to the way our snaps are presented we suspect this is an indication than some kind of Instagram integration is on its way following the purchase of the image editing software by the social network.

Over on Twitter, tweeters and followers will now be sent daily emails covering of the top stories from the micro-blog site. These digests will contain the best 140 character-or-less updates from the most popular celebs and high-profile personalities across Twitter as a whole, as well as all the must-follow names from your own stalk-list – delivered straight to your inbox every 24 hours, making sure you never miss an important tour announcement from Lady Gaga or a bowel movement from Kim Kardashian.

Tweets will appear shortened in a bulletin style and embedded links will lead you to the full story should you choose to view it. The emails will start rolling into all Twitter signees registered email accounts soon but there is an opt-out switch in your profile settings to cancel these deliveries at any time.
