Not one to rest on their laurels, after the successful launch of their latest portable Playstation Vita, Sony announced today three new apps coming this summer with the first available to download this week, on April 18.
To make the most of your Vita, Sony will be releasing some new apps to keep you entertained when you’re not playing games. The first app is Paint Park, out this week and it’s free.
This app will make us of Vita’s impressive 5-inch OLED screen and turn it into a full-on digital sketch pad – perfect for beginner and expert artists alike.
Utilising the Vita’s touchscreen you will be able to make and share drawings; you can doodle, sketch and scribble quickly and easily with the virtual markers and on-screen colour palette.
You’ll also be able to use the PS Vita’s front and rear cameras as you can take pictures and add your own creative imagination to them, then share them with your friends.
Paint Park with also have a host of social tools as well – not only can you share pictures, but you’ll be able to compete with up to five friends in online multiplayer via the ad hoc mode a la Draw Something.
The next app Sony announced on their PS Blog is Treasure Park, an new app that allows you and your friends to create your own puzzles. The app will be free and will use the Near app to help you find challengers, share you own, wherever you are.
Details are a bit thin on the ground at the moment and it’s only penciled in for a summer release date – but it’s great too see Sony making a real effort to make Vita a socially-focussed device.
And finally, Wake-up Club will also be available this summer. This application turns your PS Vita into an alarm clock that can sync up with other PS Vita users who set their alarm for the same time – so you all meet to play games at the same time.
