Sony Ericsson XPERIA Ray released 15th August – Pre-Orders now Available

Sony Ericsson’s next big handset in its Xperia Android Smartphone line, the Xperia Ray, now has a specific release date and pricing courtesy of Play.com putting the handset on its site as a pre-order with all the facts.

Play has the handset down for a release date of the 15th of August 2011 and with a price tag of £349.99 with free delivery.

Play have been a consistently cheap SIM-free mobile phone hub for the past few years so don’t expect the price to vary much from the £350 mark and we would expect the handset to come free with many contracts upon release.

Full details below:

The handset has gone up for pre-order on the UK retailer’s website with a release date of of ‘August’, which fits in with the Q3 estimated release date that Sony announced on the handset’s launch last week. Currently we know that the Three network will also be stocking the next flagship Sony Ericsson device following on from the Xperia Neo which was released earlier this month.

The Sony Ericsson will feature an ultra-sharp 3.3-inch Reality Display screen with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels and will run from a 1GHz processor with the latest Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 operating system installed.

The Ray also features Sony’s Bravia Engine for a high quality display, 8.1-mega pixel camera with Exmor R™ sensor for mobile and HD video functionality, front facing camera for video calls, a scratch resistant screen and the usual XPERIA integration with the Facebook and Twitter Timescape functionality.

All of this is housed in a 111 x 53 x 9.4mm sized case, with a weight of just 100 grams. The Ray will also come equipped with a 4GB microSD card for storage, a stereo hands free kit and is available in Black, White, Red and Gold.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed but you can go over to the Carphone Warehouse site and pre-order your handset now.
