Sony has begun compensating it’s PlayStation Plus subscribers for the interruptions to services over the Festive period by issuing a five day extension to membership to cover the downtime and also a 10% discount in the PS Store.
In an email being send around to customers now, Sony thanks it’s faithful for their patience and states that the gifts apply to anybody who had an active paid or trial PS Plus account on December 25th. No action is required to activate the five day extension and it will automatically be added to current service.
The 10% promotion code for the PlayStation Store will need to be claimed for between Friday the 23rd and Monday the 26th of January and the PlayStation Blog goes further to explain that discounts cannot be applied to PS Plus membership purchases or extensions, Music Unlimited, rental video content, PlayStation TV, PSP content, pre-order games or purchases made through the PS Store via PS Vita – So really it’s valid only for current games and add-ons for PS3 or PS4.
This gesture from Sony goes some measure towards making up for the frustrating time PlayStation gamers suffered with the PSN on Christmas and the days following when the services were impaired when the security of Sony’s network was compromised. With everything seemingly back on track customers can now enjoy these bonus benefits. Thanks Sony.
