With the PS4 coming our way on November 29th – or if you are in the US, November 15th – Sony has started the long road to console closure by offering up a healthy discount to the current range of PS3 Super Slim consoles.
What’s more, Sony has also reduced the price of the PlayStation Vita in what is sure to be a bid to get PS4 owners interested in the handheld console that will be connectible with the home console when it comes out.
Sony has reduced the Super Slim PS3 12GB to €199 in Europe, $199 in the US and in the UK we already have the console for £160. There certainly is a lot of life left in the older console as it is, with some of the PlayStation 3’s best games coming out this year and many of the big name console games for the PS4 and Xbox One also set to arrive on the older console too. Not to mention the PS3 Super Slim is still one of the best Blu-ray players and home entertainment systems you can buy with full catch-up and streaming services built in (BBC iPlayer, 4oD and Netflix to name a few).
The pricing is for the smallest memory version of the PS3 but it’s still a great deal for the price.
The PS Vita has also gotten a good old price slash with Sony knocking down the Wi-Fi-only PlayStation Vita to €199, £170 and $199 in North America. We had known a drop in price was coming as many retailers such as Target, Best Buy and Amazon have all recently lowered their prices for the Wi-Fi-only model.
Additionally, the cost of the PS Vita memory cards will also be dropped but there is no official pricing available just yet, though we know for certain that a price cut is coming.
Both consoles are a great purchase for this price, so if you want a Blu-ray player, streaming device or to catch up on all the games on PS3 then now is as good a time as any to jump aboard with Sony.
